Memory/RAM for Commodore Amiga 600

The Commodore-Amiga 600 only had 1MB of memory as standard. Some games and applications need extra memory. Our A600 memory expansions offer 4MB Fast Memory or an extra 1MB Chip Memory. The Chip memory upgrade card is easily installed in the trapdoor underneath the Amiga with an optional Real Time Clock module. The A600™ RAM cards are low cost and high quality upgrades. We carefully assemble and test them in-house, engineered to last for many years.

Jargon Buster

Are you confused by some of the terms used with Amiga 600 memory expansions? We have explained some of the key terms here to help.

RAM card: expansion board for your Amiga that increases the available memory and sometimes also performance.

Chip Memory: a special type of memory used by the Amiga's graphics and sound chips- sometimes referred to as Graphics Memory or Chip RAM.

Memory: programs are stored temporarily in memory, or RAM while they are running. Additional memory is needed for more complex programs. Memory is erased every time the Amiga is reset or powered down.

Real Time Clock (RTC): the Real Time Clock stores and updates the current time and date even when the Amiga is powered down due to it being self-powered by a small battery. The Amiga time and date stamps files when they are created or updated.

Trapdoor Slot: If you turn over the Amiga 600 you will see a plastic door (the "trapdoor") on the underside. Using a small coin to lever it open which will reveal an expansion slot. Memory expansion can be plugged in here doubling the amount of Chip RAM your Amiga can have available.
